As an artist in residence at Bullseye Glass Co., I experimented with video and optics using the sculptural lenses I made to exaggerate moving images and exploit the properties of sunlight. Shooting through lenses made from water-filled glass globes or tubes, I deliberately distorted moving color field studies; other kilnformed glass pieces designed lenses in a grid, refracting sunlight into multiplied spectra. In concert with sound, these experiments are transporting, not to another place but to a different attunement to the phenomenal reality we find ourselves in. Eye On The Sparrow was commissioned by Chuck Johnson for his album, Balsams. (07:20)
